The George Project: The Hidden Heart of the French Resistance

Long before the liberation of Paris became a symbol of Allied victory, freedom was taking root in the fields, forests, and farmhouses of rural Brittany. Far from the headlines and battle maps, ordinary French farmers, laborers, and families transformed their homes into centers of resistance.

The Men of Team George

The story begins with three extraordinary operatives selected to enter occupied France during one of the most critical moments of the war. French Captain Philippe Ragueneau was already a legendary figure.

The Rise of Base Dingson

What began as a secluded farmhouse quickly transformed into a center of Allied resistance operations. Night after night, aircraft crossed occupied skies to deliver weapons, ammunition, fuel, communications equipment, and supplies. French Resistance fighters streamed into the area from across the region.

Rediscovering Base Dingson

The search began with wartime records. Using official OSS post-combat interviews, mission reports, historical aerial imagery, and original hand-drawn maps, the Three Forks® team retraced the footsteps of Team George across the Brittany countryside. What appeared straightforward on paper proved far more challenging on the ground. Buildings had changed. Fields had been altered.
